Our Mission

Teaching Knowledge, Wisdom, Virtue and Life Skills through God and the Bible

Isaiah 54:13 “All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children. In righteousness you shall be established…”

SCA believes that according to scripture, the parents are ultimately responsible to God for the teaching, training and educating of their children. Deuteronomy 6:1-9 We believe the school should compliment the Christian Home and the Parent in reinforcing the teaching, training and mentoring that is taught in the Bible. We believe the Bible teaches that the older should teach the younger in a Biblical manner. Titus 2:4, 1 Timothy 4:12 This is why we believe a non-age-segregated classroom is the optimal atmosphere for a child to flourish. We feel children should be taught to be an example at the earliest age possible. We feel excessive time spent with same-age peers is usually not beneficial. We believe that to encourage “multi-generational” faithfulness, the family unit must be of the utmost importance above all other social interactions. The nucleus of a free and responsible civilization is the family unit. This we believe can only be maintained as we work in conjunction with God and God’s plan for humanity.

The Bible is our main textbook and the curriculum we have chosen to use reflects this– Christian Light Education. Our goal is to raise up boys and girls to become men and women who will have an unashamed, Biblical worldview and will be equipped to share it with those they meet that would question their beliefs.

We believe the Teachers, Supervisors and Mentors must be of this worldview as well; exemplifying this in their daily walk and living.

As a general rule, students 6th grade and above will be accepted only if they desire to attend.

Classes will not exceed 30 students and over 15 will have a Teacher Helper available. The students will be guided to set their own goals and attain them. They will grade their own daily work with supervision. Regular homework will not be assigned. Whatever homework they have will be what they did not accomplish in class. More teacher help and guidance will be required in the lower grades. The teacher may have older students and teacher helpers to help guide the younger students.

Selah Christian Academy Goals

Ephesians 4:11-13 says, “Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church; the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do His work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.”

  1. Provide the truth–to provide a Christ-centered educational program K-12th grade which is based on the authoritative Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17) and to provide the Student with an opportunity to confess Jesus as their Savior and Lord. (Romans 10:9,10)
  2. Model Jesus–to provide mature, Christian Teachers/Supervisors/Mentors who teach and minister to students, families and each other using the Word of God and modeling Christ in their actions.
  3. Equip the Student and Parent–to equip the Student and Parents to live according to God’s Word, to evangelize and disciple others–to teach Students how to study God’s Word. (2 Timothy 2:15)
  4. Follow the Bible–to follow Biblical principles in all that we do (Colossians 3:17)–to teach the Student how to research and reason logically from a Biblical perspective. (Isaiah 1:18, Luke 6:40)
  5. Serve the Family–to serve the Family and the local church as they train young people to have a personal and intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. (Galatians 6:6-10)–to build “multi-generational” faithfulness in our Children through God and the Bible.

Many times you will hear us at SCA speak about “multi-generational” faithfulness. This term is not something we birthed. We are not sure who first coined the term, but we do know that Dr. Voddie Baucham uses it extensively in his lectures and book “Family Driven Faith.” We recommend you purchase the book and read it together as a family. Another book that is greatly beneficial in Parenting God’s way, is “Shepherding a Child’s Heart” by Ted Tripp.
